… bringing
community back to childbirth ...
Approved
by Doula UK, this preparation course adheres to the Doula UK Core
Curriculum and fulfils the requirements for Doula UK membership.
At Mindful Doulas, our aim is to bring community back to childbirth
through doulas who are committed to the grassroots values of the work
that we do. While we do not support the need for 'professional
training', we do acknowledge the need for a period of 'preparation'
before new doulas go out to support other women around the time of
childbirth. This preparation is as much about pursuing our own personal
journey as it is furthering our knowledge and skills in our role as a
doula.
Our course includes a home study pack, one core weekend workshop plus a
breastfeeding day (if required), and a final written assignment -
participants may take up to 6 months to complete. The programme is
suitable for anyone wishing to learn or extend supportive skills as a
lay-childbirth companion, whether in the formal role of a doula, as a
complementary service to an existing practice or informally as a support
person on an occasional basis. |
BURSARIES: Two
assisted places (25% discount) are offered per core workshop, on
application. 10% discount applies for members of the Scottish Birth
Teachers Association. All enquiries are very welcome.

Wysewomen Workshops
 |
 |
|
|
After a steady stream of discussions with folk who
have been guided to this work, Wysewomen have put together a series of workshops
to explore in more depth the more intricate issues that often are left
undeveloped but are hugely significant.
These
workshops are ideal for anyone on the journey of a birth or postnatal
supporter (a doula) but are also accessible for all working around the
birthing family. They are a great way to prepare or perhaps just add
skills.
